Checklist of questions for a dental clinic in Turkey

Below is a list of questions worth asking the clinic, coordinator or agent before you buy your ticket.

🏥 About the doctor, not just the clinic

These questions will help you verify whether the doctor and clinic are trustworthy.

Who SPECIFICALLY will be treating me – full name?
What specialisations do they have and how many years of experience in this specific procedure (crowns, implants, full mouth)?
How many such cases do they do per year and do they have before/after photos similar to my case?

Money is a sensitive topic, but you need to know exactly what you're paying for.

What exactly is included in the price: tests, X-ray/CT, anaesthetic, medications, temporary crowns, check-ups, transport, hotel?
What is NOT included and what might I pay extra for on site (e.g. root canal treatment, additional anaesthetic, extended stay)?
Who pays for corrections after my return – the procedure, flight, hotel, transport – if something goes wrong?

Specific technical questions that will show whether the clinic is professional.

Will I receive a written treatment plan: which teeth, what procedures, how many visits and how many days on site?
What materials will be used (implant brand, crown type, metal/full ceramic) and will I receive certificates in writing?

The most important questions – what happens if something goes wrong?

What does the complaints procedure look like – how long do I have to report a problem, what do you consider an error vs a "normal reaction"?
Is this described in a document I will receive before the procedure?
Who is my contact after returning home (specific coordinator, doctor), and how quickly do you respond to messages?

Are there direct flights to the city where the clinic is from my country all year round, or only seasonally?
How do connections look in winter – will I need to travel with a stopover and how long does the journey realistically take one way?
What happens if a cancelled flight means I miss my appointment (does the clinic have flexibility in rescheduling)?

Does the doctor and coordinator speak English (or my language) well enough that I understand the risks and consent forms?
Can I have an online consultation with the DOCTOR before flying, not just with the coordinator/agent?
What hygiene and sterilisation procedures do you have, do you hold any accreditations / quality certificates and where can I verify this?

After treatment is complete, will I receive full documentation: procedure description, X-ray/CT images, a letter for my dentist at home?

Which specific hotel will I be staying in – please give me the name and a link to the website / Google Maps.
Will the hotel name be written into the agreement / offer, and not just "4-star hotel near the clinic"?

If the clinic doesn't want to answer these questions or answers evasively – that is already your answer. Keep looking.
